Tehran, March 27 (IANS) Iran and Kuwait drew 1-1 in Group B of the 2015 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers.
In the match held at the Kuwait SC Stadium on Tuesday, the Iranian outfit took the lead in the dying minutes of the first half. Kuwaitis stepped up the pressure after the interval as Iranians tried to defend their lead in the second half. The hosts were awarded a penalty (76th minute) and Kuwaiti defender Fahad Awad scored the equaliser, reports Xinhua.
After two rounds of matches, Iran stands at the top of Group B with four points, followed by Kuwait with the same points and goal difference.
Iran is to host Thailand and Kuwait will play Lebanon in Beirut Oct 15.
