Islamabad, March 17 (IANS) Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, chief minister of the Pakistani Punjab province, has said the survival and future of the country lies in holding general elections that are pivotal for salvaging and building up of a new Pakistan, Geo News reported Sunday.
Sharif urged bringing such caretaker prime minister at the Centre and chief ministers in the provinces who are suitable to these posts.
Stating that a consensus strategy was imperative for the holding of transparent general elections, the chief minister said the elections in the country should be held on the same day.
Pakistan's National Assembly, the lower house of parliament, was dissolved Saturday on completion of its five-year term.
