Hillary would thrash top Republicans if elections were held today

Washington , Fri, 08 Mar 2013 ANI

Washington, Mar. 8 (ANI): If the 2016 presidential elections were held today, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will top any of several top-tier possible Republican candidates, including New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, a new poll has found.

The Quinnipiac Poll found that Clinton bests Christie 45 percent to 37 percent, and trumps Senator Marco Rubio 50 percent to 34 percent and Republican Paul Ryan, 50 percent to 38 percent.

In a statement, Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute, said that Clinton would start a 2016 presidential campaign with enormous advantages.

He added that the former secretary of state was obviously by far the best known and her more than 20 years in the public spotlight allowed her to create a very favorable impression on Americans

Brown said that it is worth noting that she had very good poll numbers in 2006 looking towards the 2008 election before she faced a relative unknown in President Barack Obama, Politico reports.

The poll found that while Clinton comes out a winner, other possible Democratic contenders did not fare as well.

Christie would beat Vice President Joe Biden 43 percent to 40 percent, but Biden would beat Rubio 45 percent to 38 percent. Biden also edges out Ryan 45 percent to 42 percent, the report added. (ANI)
