London, Feb. 19 (ANI): British Prime Minister David Cameron has sparked controversy after pledging to make it easier for Indian immigrants to come to Britain with a special 'same day' visa service.
He also said there was 'no limit' to the number of Indians who would be allowed to study in UK universities and stay on in graduate-level jobs after they are qualified.
According to the Sun, Cameron has taken a huge trade delegation to India, including representatives of the Premier League and the London Underground, as he is trying to strike business deals with the Asian country during his three-day visit to the country.
In exchange for making visa rules more flexible, Cameron wants India to relax business laws so British companies can invest in the country's booming economy.
He defended his appeal for Indian businessmen and students to come to the UK and said it did not undermine the government's message on getting net annual immigration down into the tens of thousands, the report said.
According to the report, Cameron revealed he has been discussing the building projects with the Indian Government, which could provide opportunities for British planners, architects, construction firms and finance specialists.
Speaking to workers at the Mumbai headquarters of the Anglo-Dutch Unilever group, Cameron said that Britain is one of the most open, easy-to-invest-in countries in the world, the report said.
He told his audience in Mumbai that he wants Britain's partnership with India to be 'a really special relationship' for the 21st century, it added. (ANI)
