Islamabad, Feb 1 (IANS) Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari Friday left for London to attend a summit to be hosted by British Prime Minister David Cameron and attended by Afghan President Hamid Karzai, state-run Radio Pakistan reported.
The summit will discuss cooperation of the three countries for peace and security in war-torn Afghanistan.
Sources told Xinhua that the meeting will provide an opportunity for the Pakistani and Afghan presidents to review their joint efforts to encourage the Taliban to enter the reconciliation process.
This will be the third trilateral summit in seven months.
The first summit was held in Kabul in August 2012. The second was held in the UN on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session.
Sources said the leaders are also likely to discuss the proposed Strategic Partnership Agreement.
Pakistan has handed over a draft to the Afghan government and Karzai is expected to come with his initial response.
The two leaders are also likely to hold a bilateral meeting that will focus on Islamabad's role in the peace process.
Pakistan has released 26 Taliban prisoners over the past two months on the request of Afghan authorities to push the peace process forward.
