Lahore, Jan. 23 (ANI): The Lahore High Court has sought assurance from President Asif Ali Zardari that he would not hold political activities in his office.
The court postponed the hearing of a contempt petition against Zardari until February 6, saying that proceeding on the petition could be dropped if a written statement is submitted in the court assuring that Zardari would not hold political activities in his office, reports the Daily Times.
The government's counsel, Wasim Sajjad, said that since the president enjoyed constitutional immunity from prosecution during his tenure in the office, a contempt petition against him should not be entertained. (ANI)
