Rio de Janeiro, Jan 22 (IANS) Argentina defender Emiliano Insua has signed with Brazilian top-flight football club Gremio, local media reported.
Insua agreed to personal terms after Portugal's Sporting Lisbon accepted an offer of three million euros for the 24-year-old, according to Brazilian news site Terra.
The former Liverpool player will face competition for Gremio's left-back position from his former Reds teammate Fabio Aurelio and highly rated youngster Alex Tellos.
Having made 46 first-team starts in four years at Anfield, Insua was sold to Sporting Lisbon in 2011.
He has won four international caps for Argentina and was a member of his country's gold medal-winning team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
