US school suspends five-yr-old for making bubble gun 'terrorist threat'

Washington, Mon, 21 Jan 2013 ANI

Washington, Jan. 21 (ANI): A five-year-old girl has been suspended from elementary school in Pennsylvania after she made what the school called a 'terrorist threat'.

The girl was reportedly suspended after she threatened to shoot a classmate with pink Hello Kitty bubble gun.

The unidentified kindergartener was initially suspended for 10 days following the January 10 incident at Mount Carmel Area Elementary School in Northumberland County, PennLive.com reported.

According to the New York Daily News, Robin Ficker, a lawyer for the girl's family, said that she did not have the toy gun, which blows soapy bubbles, with her at school when she suggested that she and a friend shoot each other.

The family of the kindergartener is now fighting to get the elementary school to cancel the punishment, which was eventually reduced to two days, from the child's record.

The lawyer said that the child was reportedly required to receive a psychological evaluation because of the suspension. The evaluation found that the girl did not represent any threat to others.

The Mount Carmel Area School District said the allegations 'may not be consistent with the facts, the report added. (ANI)
