'Inherently racist' employers more likely to give jobs to people from 'own ethnic group'

London, Fri, 11 Jan 2013 ANI

London, Jan 11 (ANI): Employers are inherently racist, and are more likely to give jobs to people from their own ethnic background, a new research has revealed.

According to a report in Times Higher Education, in a fake shortlisting process for an academic job at a university, white participants acting as managers were more likely to advance white candidates.

The study found that when shown the same set of equally strong CVs, non-white participants favoured the non-white candidates over white ones, although their level of bias was not as strong, the Telegraph reports.

According to the paper, researchers described the findings as 'extraordinary and very worrying'.

They said that this trend could make it tougher for applicants from ethnic minorities to find jobs. (ANI)
