London, Jan 2 (IANS) Mayor of London Boris Johnson has been named the most influential man in Britain, edging out Prince Charles and his two sons and even Prime Minister David Cameron.
The mayor of London, who won praises for his handling of the London Olympics, pipped many people in politics and showbusiness in a list published by GQ magazine, the Daily Mail reported.
The list is heavily loaded by stars of the Olympics, with cyclists Bradley Wiggins and Chris Hoy at the 15th place, and runner Mo Farah at 34th following his two gold medals.
Cameron, Chancellor George Osborne, Education Secretary Michael Gove and Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt were down in the list.
The Prince of Wales was 12th, Prince Harry 18th and Prince William, the third-in-line to the throne, was on the 33rd place.
The daily said that in what appeared to reflect a TV show "Yes, Minister", where a civil servant guides the decisions of the minister he is meant to be serving, Cabinet Secretary Jeremy Heywood was voted more influential than Prime Minster Cameron.
The GQ magazine consulted a panel from various industries to compile the list.
The panel featured PR mastermind Matthew Freud, Liberty director Shami Chakrabarti, Arcadia boss Philip Green, literary agent Ed Victor, Daily Mail editor-in-chief Paul Dacre, president of the Royal Society Paul Nurse, entrepreneurial tycoon Richard Branson and co-director of the Serpentine Gallery Hans Ulrich Obrist.
