Hamas chief rejects Israel's right on 'Palestinian land'

Gaza , Sun, 09 Dec 2012 ANI

Gaza, Dec. 9 (Xinhua-ANI): Khaled Meshaal, the exiled Hamas leader who is on his first visit to Gaza, rejected Saturday any right of Israel 'on historic Palestinian land'.

"From the (Mediterranean) sea to (Jordan) river, from its north to its south is our land and home... We do not give up or make concession on any inch," Meshaal said in a speech in front of crowds of Hamas supporters who gathered in Gaza City to mark the 25th anniversary of the Islamic movement.

"Jerusalem is our lasting capital," Meshaal said, adding: "We will liberate it inch by inch, stone by stone, neighborhood by neighborhood... Israel has no right in Jerusalem."

Meshaal said his visit to Gaza would not have taken place without "resistance."

Meshaal started his historic visit to Gaza on Friday, weeks after November's clashes between Hamas and Israel, which ended under an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire.

Hamas took over Gaza by force in 2007 after it ousted Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah party and routed his forces.

The Hamas chief also called for reconciliation with Fatah, but stressed that the national reunion should be based on resistance and national principles, adding that the diplomatic, political and popular resistance, which Fatah adopts, is good but has no value without armed resistance.
