Senior US diplomat in Pakistan for talks on 'improving ties between countries'

Islamabad, Dec 8 (ANI): US Senior Deputy Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, David Pearce has conducted meetings with Pakistani officials in Islamabad on to continue discussions on improving ties between the two nations.

The discussions included how the US and Pakistan can work together to identify their shared interests and act jointly on them, said a press release.

According to the Express Tribune, Pearce's visit builds on other recent US-Pakistan bilateral engagements, including meetings between US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar in Washington and Brussels.

Following the meeting, Pearce said that the significant high-level US-Pakistan bilateral engagements have helped in making real progress on issues critical to the interests of both the nations, the paper said.

"I am meeting with officials in Islamabad today to continue this process," the paper quoted him, as saying.

"I expect that the United States and Pakistan will continue these engagements in the weeks and months ahead," he added. (ANI)
