London, Dec. 6 (ANI): A 41-story tower inspired by a tiara worn by Princess Diana has come very close to winning the skyscraper of the year award.
The Great American Tower, which cost 322 million dollars to build, is 202 meters high and is the tallest skyscraper in Cincinnati, Ohio.
The building's architect Gyo Obata was reportedly leafing through photographs when he came across a picture of Diana wearing a tiara, the Telegraph reports.
The tiara went on to inspire the crown-shaped structure which appears on the top of the building, the report said.
The tower was named as one of the top ten skyscrapers of the year by judges as part of the Emporis Skyscraper Award.
According to the report, Eight Spruce Street, in Manhattan, New York, came in first place.
The building, designed by Frank Gehry, is the 12th tallest residential block in the world, measuring 265m.
A 412m-high building in Kuwait, the Al Hamra Twoer, won the second place, while the Great American Tower shared fourth spot with the Victoria Tower in Stockholm and a skyscraper in Shenzhen, China, the report added. (ANI)
