Islamabad, Nov. 22 (ANI): In order to show the world that Pakistan is genuinely committed to fighting terrorism, an editorial in a Pakistani daily has said that the country should accelerate its process of trying the accused and it should begin with Jamaatud Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed, who is the believed to be the mastermind behind the 2008 Mumbai attacks which killed 166 persons.
The editorial in The Express Tribune said that the foot-dragging is damaging for the country's image, as it raises questions about who Pakistan is protecting and why.
Pakistan's response to the execution of Ajmal Kasab- the lone surviving member of the terror squad that was responsible for the Mumbai attacks - came through a Foreign Office statement that said that Pakistan condemns terrorism in all forms and manifestations.India said it has provided evidence to the Pakistan government of involvement of Pakistani individuals in the 2008 attacks but Islamabad denies substantive proof. Such misconceptions need to be determinedly resolved if militancy is to be brought down in the country, the editorial said. (ANI)
