Kiev, Nov 21 (IANS) Harry Redknapp is in the frame to coach the Ukrainian football side after the country's Football Association announced they would start talks with the ex?Tottenham Hotspur coach.
The news came less than a week after ex?striker Andriy Shevchenko rejected a job offer from Ukraine, saying he was not experienced enough.
"Redknapp would have great authority among the national team players. He can improve the quality of the game quickly and make significant progress. At the moment, this expert is one of the best English coaches," Mikhail Fomenko, the official in charge of the national team, said Tuesday.
Redknapp was included on a short?list of candidates for the Russia job before Fabio Capello was hired in July.
Ukraine are struggling in their bid to reach Brazil 2014 and lie fifth in their World Cup qualifying group after failing to win any of their first three games.
The Ukraine job has been vacant since Oleg Blokhin quit in September to join Dynamo Kiev.
