Hanoi, Nov 21 (IANS) Sweden will help Vietnam produce unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for use in mapping, traffic planning and border patrolling, Xinhua reported Wednesday.
The Vietnam Aerospace Association and the Swedish Unmanned Group have recently signed an agreement in Hanoi to jointly produce UAVs.
In the first phase, Sweden will give funds and equipment to Vietnam. In phase two, both sides will cooperate in aeronautical electronic science development, and in the final phase, they will manufacture UAVs.
The UAVs are also useful in research and rescue operations. To date, more than 40 countries design and manufacture UAVs. The market is worth $7 billion annually and is estimated to double in the next 10 years.
