Japan protests as Chinese ships again enter disputed waters around Tokyo-controlled islands

Beijing, Tue, 20 Nov 2012 ANI

Beijing, Nov. 20 (ANI): Four Chinese ships have again sailed into the territorial waters of disputed Tokyo-controlled islands in the East China Sea.

Japan's coastguard said that the maritime surveillance vessels entered the 12-nautical-mile zone around one of the islands in the chain called the Senkaku in Japan and the Diaoyu in China, shortly before 11 am on Tuesday.

According to the Courier Mail, Chinese vessels have been spotted in and around the territorial waters every day for the last month.

The sovereignty of the islands has been a source of friction for decades, but the row erupted earlier this year after the Japanese Government bought them to nationalise them, the report added. (ANI)
