Islamabad, Nov 17 (ANI): Over 4,000 Pakistanis are currently held in prisons all over the Middle East with over 400 awaiting their sentences, Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar has said.
Khar informed the National Assembly (NA) during question hour on Friday that of the prisoners, Saudi Arabia detains the Pakistanis at 1,312, which include 47 women.
According to the Express Tribune, UAE detains the second highest number, she said.
"Around 314 Pakistanis are in jail in Kuwait and 41 were imprisoned in Iraq," the paper quoted Khar, as saying.
She further informed lawmakers that as many as 368 Pakistanis in these countries were facing five-year sentences, 78 were faced 10-year sentences and 60 faced 15-year sentences. (ANI)
