Damascus, Nov. 13 (Xinhua-ANI): A booby-trapped car went off Tuesday morning in front of al-Bishara Church in Syria's northern province of al-Raqqa, killing at least two people, a pro- government TV reported.
The booby-trapped silver Mitsubishi was parked before the church in al-Thakana district, said the report, adding that the blast has left material damages to nearby buildings.
Some pro-government news Facebook pages claimed that the governor of al-Raqqa was in the vicinity of the blast site and that he, along with two of his bodyguards, were taken by an ambulance with no reports of his possible injury.
The blast coincided with an intensified military showdown in the suburbs of the capital Damascus and elsewhere in Syria between the government troops and the armed rebels. (Xinhua-ANI)
