Vientiane (Laos), Nov.6 (ANI): Denmark Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt met with Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid on the margins of the ASEM Summit at Vientiane.
According to sources, during the meeting, Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt recognised that the developments regarding extradition of Kim Davy to India required to be addressed.
On his part, according to sources, Khurshid stressed on the need to move forward on this issue.
The Danish Prime Minister assured that the Danish side would undertake further techno-legal examination of the issue and initiate discussions on that basis, the sources said.
Davy has been accused of flying a Latvian aircraft that dropped a large consignment of arms including several hundred AK-47 rifles and more than a million rounds of ammunition over a large area in Jhalda, Ghatanga, Belamu, Maramu villages of West Bengal's Purulia district on the night of 17 December 1995.
Several days later, when the plane re-entered Indian airspace, it was intercepted by the Indian Air Force MiG-21 and forced to land.
While the true motive of the operation remains shrouded in mystery and conjecture, it has been alleged that arms were intended for the socio-spiritual organization Ananda Marga.
Prime accused Davy has disputed this claim. he says that the Indian Government itself was behind the arms drop to counter the CPI(M) cadres. (ANI)
