Bogota, Nov. 1 (Xinhua-ANI): A bomb was detonated Wednesday near a crowded square in southwestern Colombia, killing at least two people and injuring 17 others.
The explosive device went off near the central square of Pradera in the Valle del Cauca Province during transportation by suspected members of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), local police director Nelson Ramirez said.
He said that the two killed were "apparently members" of the rebel group. Those wounded, including seven children, were treated at local medical centers.
A nearby police station should be the originally intended target, said Mayor Adolfo Escobar, adding that experts were called to the site to decide the type of the device.
At the time of the explosion, some 7,000 people, mostly children, were celebrating Halloween on the square, Escobar said. (Xinhua-ANI)
