Beijing, Oct 21 (IANS) China has allocated 2 trillion yuan (about $320 billion) for mass urban transportation projects in 34 cities, an official said.
The projects will cover more than 2,000 km, the China Daily Friday quoted Liu Heming, an official of the housing and urban-rural development ministry, as saying.
China has already covered about 1,700 km under the mass transit projects.
Rapid development is expected to continue in the next 30 years in China, which has already hit an urbanization rate of about 50 percent, Liu said.
