New York, Oct 16 (ANI): Former soft porn icon Isabel Sarli, who was the first Argentine actress to perform full-frontal nudity on screen, has been appointed to an official position within the country's government.
The 77-year-old actress had incurred wrath of censors early in her film career for appearing in movies like 'Fire, Meat, Love and Sex,' 'Naked Temptation' and 'Tropical Ecstasy.'
President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner said Sarli would be "a true representative of national culture" as its new ambassador, the New York Daily News reported.
Her new role is of undersecretary and will be working within the remit of the Ministry of Culture.
"It is as much for her acting skills in films as for being considered a popular icon of her day and an emblematic figure of Argentine cinema," de Kirchner said.
Sarli started her career in modelling industry before winning the prestigious Miss Argentina competition in 1955.
She was spotted by filmmaker Armando Bo and went on to star in some 30 low-level softporns during the 1960s and 1970s. (ANI)
