Washington, Sept 29 (ANI): James Holmes, who allegedly killed 12 people during the screening of 'The Dark Knight Rises' at a movie hall in Colorado, threatened a professor before the shooting, leading the university to ban him from campus, it has emerged.
Prosecutors said that after his access to the university was stopped, Holmes, a student of the University of Colorado, 'began a detailed and complex plan to obtain firearms, ammunition' and other equipment for the attack.
The claims are contained in court documents released on Friday, the BBC reports
The name of the person Holmes is alleged to have threatened has reportedly been redacted, the report said.
According to the report, in another document, Holmes' defence announced its intention 'to call... an expert in the field of psychiatry'.
Holmes has been accused of opening fire in a midnight screening of the new Batman movie at a movie hall in a Denver suburb, killing dozens of people and wounding 58 others.
The attack in July was one of the worst mass shootings in US history. (ANI)
