London, Sept 27 (ANI): A Brazilian judge has reportedly ordered the arrest of the head of Google's operations in the country for failure to remove YouTube videos.
Brazilian authorities said the videos are slanderous towards a candidate running in the election for mayor in the city of Campo Grande.
The judge ordered the removal of the videos last week, but Google has refused to remove them and says it is appealing, the BBC reports.
According to the report, Judge Flavio Peren ruled the videos violated local election laws, and ordered the arrest of Fabio Jose Silva Coelho.
The report quoted a Google spokesman, as saying that it is appealing against the ruling.
It has previously argued that the Internet should be a space for voters freely to express their opinions about candidates for political office. (ANI)
