Washington, Sept. 24 (ANI): US President Barack Obama holds a five-point lead over Republican presidential rival Mitt Romney in Ohio, a new poll has found.
According to the Ohio Newspaper Poll, almost 51 percent Americans in Ohio prefer to vote for Obama, compared to 46 percent who prefer Romney.
When voters were asked which candidate would do the best job in improving economic conditions in Ohio, Obama still had a five-point lead over Romney.
"Clearly, how Ohioans view the two candidates in terms of their ability to improve Ohio's economy over the next four years will go a long way in determining who wins Ohio's 18 electoral votes," Politico quoted Eric Rademacher, co-director of the Institute for Policy Research at the University of Cincinnati, which conducted the poll, as saying.
The poll found that the gap between the two candidates is biggest in Northeast Ohio, where Obama leads by 16 points, 57-41.
According to the report, it is believed Obama's constant touting of the bailout of the auto industry, which is a major driver of the economy in Northeast Ohio, is working. (ANI)
