Freemont (California, U.S.), Sep.4 (ANI): American Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (AGPC) that formed a Special Group, traveling wide and far in United States to review the security situation in Sikh Gurdwaras following Oak Creek (Wisconsin) Gurdwara attack, has asked the managements of all religious places to stay vigilant.
They appealed to all Gurudwara management bodies to stay calm and remain in touch with 911 in case of any emergency, as US administration has been helpful concerning security of the Sikhs after the tragic incident.
AGPC President J.S. Hothi and Coordinator Dr. Pritpal Singh themselves led the special group and traveled to a number of gurudwaras in California and outside, holding talks with them.
"No doubt, the gurudwara managements are concerned relating their security. We have asked them to remain vigilant. We can not stop any one from entering Gurdwaras as all are welcome to pray in the shrines as per the Sikh ideology'', said Hothi.
He said any suspicious movement in or outside the shrine should be reported to the police.
Pritpal added that managements had been asked to remain in touch with their local administration to discuss the self -defence measures.
He said the role of youth becomes important but there should not be any panic as the Wisconsin attack was an isolated incident and the United States is multi-cultural, multi-lingual and multi-faith country where are live in peace and harmony and minorities are protected.
"We just want that the measures including the installation of CCTV cameras, vigilance and constant touch with the local administration should be taken up'', he said while reiterating that there were no reason of creating panic or showing of unnecessary concerns over the issue.
They said that by staying alert, many problems could be overcome.
"Show no sign of aggression but protection. The way the US administration and Civil Society had come up in support of the US Sikhs, they need not to worry but staying alert is their right'', said the US Sikh leaders. (ANI)
