Washington, Sept. 4 (ANI): Top Bill Clinton confidant Douglas Band has said he will vote for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, according to a report.
The report in the New Yorker magazine revealed the move by Band will strengthen Hillary Clinton's position in the Democratic Party.
According to Politico, in revealing the relationship between President Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton, the New Yorker's Ryan Lizza has revealed a fascinating news tidbit.
"By some measures, a defeat for Obama in November would leave Hillary the undisputed leader of her party and propel her towards the Oval Office that much faster. At least one of Clinton's closest advisers seems to be backing that strategy," the report quoted Lizza, as writing.
"According to two people with direct knowledge, Douglas Band has said that he will vote for Romney. Band, however, declined to comment," Lizza added.
According to the report, the story documents the gently improving relationship between Bill Clinton and Obama, but also notes the enduring tensions that remain, particularly as it relates to the Clintons' future political ambitions.
Band is a longtime adviser to former President Clinton, and played a key role in creating and managing the Clinton Global Initiative, the report added. (ANI)
