Washington, Sept. 3 (ANI): The New York police has arrested a wheelchair-bound man for dousing his daughter with acid in Brooklyn.
Cops and witnesses said that the acid caused the victim's skin to peel from her face.
According to the New York Daily News, Darlene Lynch, 49, sprinted from her apartment at about 1:40 p.m. screaming for help.
"My father did this!" Lynch shouted as she ran with her clothes disintegrating off her body, leaving her nearly naked.
Neighbours at the Boulevard Houses in East New York saw Lynch in disbelief.
"You could see the smoke coming off her body," an onlooker said.
"Everyone was just traumatized and scared. Her skin looked like melting wax. And then her whole eye lid was melted. The whole left side from her face all the way down to her feet," he said.
According to the report, sources said that Lynch's dad, Jerome Lynch, 69, splashed his daughter with a drain cleaner, El Diablo, which is 98 percent sulfuric acid.
Jerome Lynch told the police that he was forced to do the act as his daughter abused him daily.
Lynch was rushed to New York Presbyterian Hospital, where she was placed in a burn unit and is expected to survive, the report added. (ANI)
