Assange says 'will remain holed up in Ecuador embassy for one year' till case dropped

London, Fri, 31 Aug 2012 ANI

London, Aug 31 (ANI): WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who has been holed up in Ecuador embassy in London, has predicted that he could stay inside the building for a year.

In an interview broadcasted in Ecuador, the 41-year-old Australian insisted that he believes the case against him will be dropped.

Assange said he believed it would take between 'six and 12 months' for the issue to be resolved, the Telegraph reports.

According to the paper, he told Telesur he believes the issue 'will be solved through diplomacy'.

"The Swedish government could drop the case. I think this is the most likely scenario. Maybe after a thorough investigation of what happened they could drop the case," the paper quoted Assange, as saying.

"I think this will be solved in between six and 12 months. That's what I estimate," he added.

Assange's remarks came soon after British Foreign Secretary William Hague admitted that 'a solution is not in sight' to end the diplomatic row with Ecuador over the fate of the Wikileaks founder. (ANI)
