Pentagon reviewing Navy SEAL's book on Osama's assassination for classified information

Washington , Tue, 28 Aug 2012 ANI

Washington, Aug. 28 (ANI): The Pentagon is reviewing a copy of soon-to-be-published book written by a Navy SEAL on the raid that killed Osama bin Laden, checking for leaks of classified information.

Pentagon spokesman George Little said Defense Department officials 'received the manuscript and we are looking at it'.

According to CBS News, the book, "No Easy Day: The Firsthand Account of the Mission That Killed Osama Bin Laden" is scheduled for publication on September 11, the anniversary of the 2001 attacks that bin Laden masterminded.

The author, a former U.S. Navy SEAL who participated in the CIA-run raid, did not submit the book until now for the pre-publication review that is required by the military secrecy agreements officials said he had signed, the report said.

It has been known that the author of the book was 'Mark Owen', one of the Navy SEAL Team 6 members who participated in the Abbottabad, Pakistan, raid on May 2, 2011 that killed the terrorist mastermind.

But later it came to light that the book was written by Matt Bissonnette, who is 36 years old and hails from Wrangell, Alaska.

Bissonnette is now retired, but participated in both the Bin Laden raid and the 2009 freeing of a hostage from Somali pirates in the Indian Ocean, which is another well-publicized SEAL success. (ANI)
