Kabul, Aug. 6 (ANI): NATO forces have reportedly killed a leader of the Haqqani Network in an air strike in Afghanistan's Logar province.
The Dawn quoted Logar province police chief Raeis Khan Rahimzai, as saying that Haqqani leader Sher Mohammad Hakimi was sitting under a tree with some associates when the NATO strike killed him. He said four others were injured in the strike.
Rahimzai said Hakimi was known for organising roadside bomb attacks and for training insurgents.
According to NATO, Hakimi transported weapons through the region and served directly under Haqqani leader Muhammad Agha.
The Haqqani Network is allied with the Taliban and Al-Qaeda and is believed to be responsible for a host of attacks in Kabul and surrounding provinces. (ANI)
