Rio de Janeiro, Aug 6 (IANS) Brazil's football confederation (CBF) denied reports that Lucas Moura was granted leave from the country's Olympic team to sign with English club Manchester United.
Britain's Daily Mail reported the 19-year-old winger was given permission to undergo a routine medical examination at Old Trafford Sunday before signing with the Premier League giants, reports Xinhua.
"It's not true that Lucas had a medical in Manchester Sunday," the CBF said in a statement on its official website.
"We haven't received any request from Manchester United of such nature. If we did, it would be refused because we would not allow a player to leave the squad in the middle of the Olympic Games."
Man Utd, which has already had two previous bids for Moura rejected, are making a new offer of 30 million pounds for the Sao Paulo star.
