Washington, August 5 (ANI): In a redacted version of its investigative report on the U.S. Secret Service-hooker scandal, the Pentagon has claimed that American frat-boy antics had already pushed Colombian hotel staff to their limit, and this led to the exposure of the scandal ahead of President Obama's visit to that country.
Managers said that Americans drank by the pool and were "bothering and propositioning college-age female greeters working at el Caribe Hotel and with the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs," the report said.
U.S. explosives-detection dog handlers were also letting their dogs move freely on hotel grounds, and they also let their pooches sleep in bed with them, housekeeping staff complained.
The Pentagon also found that the management at the Hotel Caribe was also angry because the Americans' prostitutes stayed in room after 6 a.m.
The hotel allowed signed-in companions to stay in guests' rooms overnight, but wanted them out early, so that families staying at the hotel would not see them leave, according to the report.
A tiff over payment between a Secret Service agent and his hooker, Dania Suarez, blew the lid off the affair, the New York Daily News reports.
"Military and civilian leaders did not create or foster an atmosphere of tolerance for prostitution or marital infidelity," the report said.
Nine Department of Defense personnel involved in the incident have received undisclosed administrative punishments, and a tenth was reprimanded - all potentially career-ending sanctions. (ANI)
