Olympics football: Brazil captain Silva wary of South Korea

United Kingdom,Sports, Sun, 05 Aug 2012 IANS

London, Aug 5 (IANS) Brazil football captain Thiago Silva said Sunday his team will ignore its status as favourites in Tuesday's Olympic semi-final against South Korea at Old Trafford.

Brazil earned a berth in the tournament's top four with a 3-2 victory over Honduras Saturday, reports Xinhua.

South Korea progressed by edging Britain 5-4 on penalties after the teams were locked on 1-1 after extra time.

"South Korea is a strong team that runs a lot and never gives up," said Silva, who last month joined Paris Saint Germain from AC Milan for a reported 42 million euros.

"In extra time against Britain they didn't stop working for one another even though they had every right to be exhausted."

While South Korea's speed is well known, Silva said it wasn't the team's only virtue.

"They not only have great physical training but they pass the ball well, rarely make mistakes and move with intelligence in attacks," Silva said.
