Rio de Janeiro, Aug 4 (IANS) Former Lyon and Brazilian international midfielder Juninho admitted that he fears having to call an end to his professional career.
The 37-year-old has been one of the reasons for Vasco da Gama's impressive start to the Brazilian Serie A season with a series of commanding midfield performances, reports Xinhua.
But he concedes despite his impressive form, retirement is looming.
"It scares me, there's no denying it," Juninho said Friday. "I have been playing professionally for 18 years, doing practically the same thing every day.
"It's not going to be easy to take and it makes me sad thinking about it, but I accept that the end is drawing nearer."
Regarded by many as the greatest free-kick taker of all time, Juninho has scored 237 career goals, including 100 from 350 appearances with French giants Lyon, where he played from 2001 to 2009.
