Damascus, July 23 (ANI): Arab League countries have urged the Syrian President Bashar-al Assad to quit in exchange for a 'safe exit' from the country, according to a report.
Arab League foreign ministers, during a meeting in Doha, called on Assad to 'renounce power', promising that he and his family would be offered 'a safe exit'.
"There is agreement on the need for the rapid resignation of President Bashar al-Assad," News.com.au quoted Qatar Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, as saying.
According to the report, the Arab League called on rebel group Free Syrian Army and the opposition to form a transitional government of national unity along with the 'de facto national authority', without detailing who that authority might be.
