Johannesburg - A meeting of developing nations, including South Africa, reached an agreement that the 'industrialised' West was responsible for most of the climate change across the globe.
"Industrialised countries have become industrialised because they used common space - atmosphere," News24 quoted Luiz Alberto Figueredo Machado, a Brazilian representative, as saying.
Machado was speaking at the close of a meeting between Brazil, South Africa, India and China on climatic changes across the world, ahead of a larger meeting, which will be held later in Qatar.
He further explained that the problem of 'equity', where the developing nations needed more leeway in emitting carbon, as opposed to developed nations, which had already industrialised.
South Africa and the other developing nations concluded that the 'issue of equity' was one of the problems that should be addressed ahead of the meeting in Qatar. (ANI)

Developing nations are emitting far more GHGs than Western Countries. At Durban a group of scientists released a study indicating that land use changes primarily in developing countries are releasing 45Gt of GHGs per year. Net surface GHG production is being measured by the Ibuki Satellite Program and can verify that developing countries are responsible for most of the total GHGs(not just GHGs from energy). It has also been shown that Asian/African aerosols our causing most of the planets ice loss and contribute to warming on the East coast of the USA.
