Beirut, July 9 (IANS) There are over 30,000 Syrian refugees in Lebanon receiving aid from UN Refugees Agency in coordination with the Lebanese government's relief committee and other non-governmental agencies, according to the UN agency's latest report.

In its report released Sunday, the UN Refugees Agency said that only a total of 26,905 refugees were officially registered including 17,157 in north Lebanon and 8,294 in the Bekaa region east of the country, Xinhua reported.

The report pointed out that "situation in north Lebanon deteriorated following the latest cross border clashes between the Syrian army and the rebellions which affected around 800 refugees living in the Lebanese villages such as Al Bukaia, Al Mukaibleh and Al Haicheh".

The border region of Wadi Khaled was subjected Saturday to shelling from the Syrian side of the border which resulted in a young Lebanese girl's death and five others getting injured.

There are around 600 Syrians arriving weekly to the Lebanese side of the border in Wadi Khaled, the report added.
