Lahore, July 8 (ANI): About 250 police officials in Pakistan's Punjab province have been suspended for failing to lose weight.
According to The Express Tribune, Inspector General (IG) Punjab, Habibur Rehman, had ordered 175,000 personnel not to allow their waistlines to exceed 38 inches and reduce their weight by July 7.
As the deadline passed, those unable to reduce their weight were suspended from their operational duties.
Officials who were able to reduce their waists by two to four inches were, however, given an extension in the deadline.
Police sources said that new young officials might be recruited to cover up for those suspended.
Teams under the supervision of district police officers were set up across Punjab to measure police officers' waists. (ANI)
