Damascus, June 28 (Xinhua-ANI): The Islamic Hamas movement said that one of its members, Kamal Hussni Ghannajeh, better known as Nizar Abu Mujahed, was assassinated in his Damascus house on Wednesday.
In a statement obtained by Xinhua Thursday, Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip, condemned the assassination as a "coward murder," adding that it has started investigation to pinpoint the group that stands behind this "abominable crime."
It vowed reprisal and stressed that Ghannajeh's blood wouldn't be shed in vain.
After the crisis started in Syria last year, most of Hamas's prominent leaders left Damascus to Egypt and Gaza strip. (Xinhua-ANI)
