Washington, June 19 (ANI): Michelle Obama explained the story behind a vintage photo of her and hubby Barack Obama, recounting the whirlwind tour of Africa that the couple had taken, right after they got engaged in the early 1990s.
Obama's Twitter account recently linked to a gallery of old photographs on Pinterest - including a black and white shot from 1992 of the future president and First Lady in front of a beat up old car.
According to her, the photo was taken when they made a trip to Kenya to visit her fiance's African relatives.
"We were in Kibera ... which is one of the largest slums in Nairobi. [Barack's] sister's car kept breaking down," the Politico quoted Obama as saying in 'Live with Kelly'.
"That was just one of those tender moments. I had never been to Africa before. I'm from the South Side of Chicago. It was an amazing experience.
"We didn't have any money... we were sleeping on floors."
"To just see that whole other side of Barack. He was just getting to know his family back then," she added. (ANI)
