Melbourne, June 19 (ANI): Australian police have arrested eight teenagers after a gang allegedly carried out spate of violent armed robberies against five Melbourne taxi drivers, including an Indian-origin taxi driver, at midnight yesterday.
According to Courier Mail, the teenagers, including seven males and one female, aged between 14 and 18, were arrested after four search warrants were executed in Melbourne's western suburbs.
A colleague of the five victims, named Rohit, said that he had witnessed one of the attacks.
"They were wearing masks. They had a golf stick in his hand and smashed the ar a couple of times," he said.
"(They) got the window and all the glasses down and then asked for his mobile phone and his wallet," he added.
The victims are speaking with police in a bid to get a description of the thugs.
The gang allegedly used stolen cars to attack taxi drivers on western suburban roads before smashing the taxis with baseball bats and demanding cash and phones.
