Islamabad, June 17 (ANI): Pakistan and India are mulling over a defence minister-level meeting some time after the scheduled foreign ministers meeting next month.
According to official sources, discussions on the modalities for the proposed defence ministers' meet-up would be held on the sidelines of Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar's meeting with her Indian counterpart S.M. Krishna when he visits Islamabad next month, reports The Nation.
Reportedly, officials at the Pakistan foreign and defence ministries would accompany Khar in talks with Krishna in order to fix and finalise the schedule for the defence minister-level talks. In case a mutual agreement over the timeframe is reached, the talks may take place sometime between August-September, officials said.
State Minister for Defence Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said the tentative outlines for Pak-India peace initiatives through interactions at the respective forums were being chalked out, but a framework to this effect, is yet to be finalised.
Islamabad and New Delhi are 'in touch' for future secretary and minister-level contacts at the commerce, foreign and defence ministry level, he said. (ANI)
