Pak Supreme Court CJ quits bench hearing son's 'corruption' case

Islamabad, Thu, 07 Jun 2012 ANI

Islamabad, June 7 (ANI): Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry has stepped down from the bench hearing the suo motu notice over allegations that his son, Arsalan Iftikhar, had received Rs 300 to 400 million from the owner of Bahria Town. Chaudhry took this decision during hearing of the case.

Earlier during Wednesday's hearing, a visibly disturbed chief justice vowed to deal strictly in accordance with the law if Arsalan was found guilty, reports The Nation.

"I will be the last person to spare my son or any relative," CJ Chaudhry observed in an obvious indication to protect his honour and integrity at all cost. (ANI)
