Ottawa (Canada), June 7 (Xinhua-ANI): Montreal police announced Wednesday they believe a human right hand and right foot mailed to two Vancouver schools are some of the body parts missing from the remains of Jun Lin, the 33-year-old Chinese student allegedly murdered and dismembered in Montreal by Luka Rocco Magnotta.
DNA tests will be conducted to determine whether the limbs are an exact match to Lin's torso, discovered in a suitcase in late May, and a left hand and left foot mailed to Canada's two main political parties. However, Montreal police confirmed that the two packages sent to Vancouver were mailed from Montreal.
Notes were included in all four packages, but police have declined to reveal their contents.
They also haven't said why Magnotta would have targeted Vancouver with his latest macabre mailings. However, the 29-year-old, Toronto-born former male escort, stripper and adult film actor declared bankruptcy in 2007 and owed thousands of dollars to a leasing and financing company in Burnaby, a city located east of Vancouver.
Vancouver's Province newspaper also reported late Wednesday that Montreal police believe Magnotta may have sent a package to one of the schools because a former teacher-who pleaded guilty to two child-pornography-related charges in March-was a close friend of Justin Trudeau, a Montreal Member of Parliament and son of a former Canadian prime minister.
So far, police have not recovered Lin's head, which Magnotta allegedly severed from his victim's body as shown in a grisly online video believed to depict the savage manner in which the so-called Canadian Psycho murdered the man whom he reportedly once dated.
But Montreal police said investigators obtained surveillance video of Magnotta allegedly mailing the packages destined for Ottawa from a Canada Post outlet in his Montreal neighborhood and of him removing garbage bags from the apartment building in which he resided. Police also believe Magnotta ate parts of Lin's body based on unedited footage from the same infamous video that has been posted on the Internet.
Meanwhile, Lin's parents, sister and uncle arrived at Montreal's Trudeau International Airport Tuesday night to recover his remains and meet with police.
His mother was so distraught that she could barely walk and was "crying all the time" that no one could understand most of what she said at the airport, the head of the Chinese students' association at Montreal's Concordia University, which Lin attended, told The Canadian Press.
"We come to take you home now" was all that Yan Shi said he could decipher from Lin's grief-stricken mother.
The Concordia Chinese Student Association has established a fund, the Lin Jun Rest in Peace Foundation, to help his family with expenses while they are in Canada, and a Chinese community newspaper in Montreal has received 550 Canadian dollars (about 533 U.S. dollars) in donations for Lin's family known to be of modest means. Concordia University has also offered to hold a memorial service for Lin.
Born in Wuhan, China, Lin's parents, both railway workers, reportedly divorced when he was young and he lived with his mother in his hometown while his father moved to Changsha, the capital of China's south-central Hunan Province.
While attending Concordia's faculty of engineering and computer science, Lin, a Wuhan University computer science graduate, worked part-time at a corner grocery store in Montreal where owner Kankan Huang has set a memorial featuring flowers and sympathy cards written in English, French and Mandarin.
Police believe Lin was killed either during the evening of May 24 or early on May 25.
German police arrested Magnotta Monday at an Internet cafe in Berlin following the largest manhunt in Montreal police history. He is awaiting extradition to Canada where he faces charges of first-degree murder, committing an indignity to a human body, mailing obscene material and corrupting morals via the Internet.
Magnotta is believed to also face a charge of either threatening or harassing Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, although no details have been revealed. (Xinhua-ANI)
