Moscow, May 28 (ANI): The Indian National Congress (INC) and the United Russia Party (URP) have signed an agreement to enhance cooperation between the two ruling political entities.
The agreement, which was inked on the sidelines of the 13th Congress of the URP, was signed by S. Neverov, Secretary of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the URP, and by Janardan Dwivedi, General Secretary of the INC.
According to the seven point agreement, both parties agreed to consult together and exchange information on evolving developments in India and Russia, to familiarize themselves and acquire experiences in the field of party development, organizational work, supervising and auditing activities.
Both sides also agreed to facilitate training and re-training of party personnel, promote editorial activities, participate in the work of legislative and executive branches, encourage participation of youth in politics, share information and knowledge of international relations and engage actively in other fields of mutual interest.
It was also decided that the two ruling political parties of India and Russia would facilitate exchange of party delegations, meetings of experts and promote a variety of bilateral activities.
Steps would also be taken to develop and enhance intra-party relations and contacts at the regional level.
The INC and the URP also said there was a need to encourage parliamentary exchange visits and interactions, organize seminars, conferences and round table contacts.
The INC and the URP leaderships were of the view that the intra-party agreement would further cement the equal, strategic partnership and cooperation between India and Russia.
The two-member INC delegation comprised of Janardan Dwivedi and Mukul Wasnik, General Secretaries.
They were sent to Moscow by Congress president Sonia Gandhi on the invitation of the chairman of the Supreme Council of the URP, B.Gryzlov. (ANI)
