Lucknow, May 28 (ANI): The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has accused Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav of sheltering goons and blamed it for the deterioration of law and order in the state.
BSP legislators created a ruckus in the state Assembly during the first day of the Budget Session, besides accusing Governor Banwari Lal Joshi of working in collusion with the SP government to protect goons.
"The rule of the goons has been established in the state and the government is backing them. The Governor continues to extend his support to them and is working in their favour," Swami Prasad Maurya, a BSP leader, alleged.
Governor Banwari Lal Joshi was forced to abruptly end his speech in wake of the confusion.
Another BSP leader, Naseemuddin Siddqui, said their protest would continue till they expose the government.
"We are exposing their real face. The BSP has pledged that they would not sit in peace till the time they expose the SP," Siddqui said.
Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) leader Kalraj Mishra was however, critical of the uproar in the Assembly and added the protest was not in accordance to the democratic values of the country.
"The uproar created by my opposition colleagues from the Bahujan Samaj party inside the legislative assembly was not in accordance to the democratic values of the country. The way they stood on the tables and threw pamphlets at the honourable governor is not a sign of healthy democratic system," Mishra said.
Calling the uproar 'uncalled' and 'baseless', SP leader Hasan Ahmed said the BSP leaders expressed their anger due to the crackdown on their chief Mayawati and other leaders, who were involved in various scams and cases of corruption.
"The uproar was uncalled for and baseless. People have voted us to power and they have posed trust in us. They are hopeful that we would work for their welfare and they have given us the mandate to expose the scams and cases of corruption which had occurred during the rule of Mayawati and we are doing that," Ahmed said.
