Kasur, May 27 (ANI): The Chief Minister of Pakistan's Punjab province, Shahbaz Sharif, has called on demonstrators to march with him to Islamabad against the government, whom he refers to as "Ali Baba and the 40 thieves".
"The rulers have sown seeds of hatred against Punjab," The Express Tribune quoted Sharif, as telling the angry protesters. He blamed the government for the current state of the province, and alleged that they were doing so on purpose.
He said the reason behind the load shedding in the province was because the federal government was in revenge mode.
Sharif said, "Yousuf Raza Gilani and Asif Zardari are involved in this. Ali Baba and the 40 thieves are involved in this."
He blamed the ruling government for destroying Punjab's economy, giving it a hard-hitting loss of "Rs 300 billion" in one year.
"Load shedding has destroyed the cities and villages of Punjab. Hundreds of thousands have become unemployed. The common underprivileged man cannot even feed himself once a day," he said.
"I stand with you, shoulder to shoulder, for all problems you face. I will walk with you through streets and markets, and together we will chase out Ali Baba and the 40 thieves," Sharif told the protesters. (ANI)
