Sydney, May 23 (ANI): An Air Mauritius aircraft was reportedly forced to make an emergency return to Melbourne Airport Wednesday afternoon after a passenger reportedly made a bomb threat to the crew.
The Airbus A340 had taken off from the airport just after 2.30 pm local time when the crew advised the control tower of the need to return.
According to News.com.au, the aircraft involved was Air Mauritius flight MK943 bound for Perth.
A man was reportedly detained on board, while other passengers were safely escorted from the plane, which was undamaged.
Meanwhile, an Air Mauritius spokeswoman confirmed a suspicious item was found on-board the aircraft.
An Australian Federal Police spokeswoman said the incident had now been handed over to the Victoria Police, who were investigating the matter.
The incident had not disturbed other flights and the terminal was operating as normal, the report said. (ANI)
